Bug Viewer Review & Test
We took the Carson BugView Bug Catcher & Magnifier out on a family conker-collecting walk — and it turned into a mini bug safari! With lots of leaves, fallen logs, and branches, we had no shortage of creepy crawlies to investigate.
---
The Test
Armed with our new Bug Viewer, we set off to see what we could find. Every time we turned over a log or pile of leaves, there was something scuttling away — spiders, beetles, and even a grasshopper!
The kids were so excited to try catching them, and the Bug Viewer made it super easy:
> Just place it over the top, slide the trap closed, and peer through the magnifying lens.
Even the adults joined in, taking turns to catch and observe before carefully releasing each bug back where we found it.
---
What We Loved
✅ Simple & Easy to Use – The one-handed slider is perfect for kids.
✅ Great Value for Money – Sturdy, lightweight, and ready for adventure.
✅ Brings Nature to Life – Seeing the bugs magnified made them so much more interesting.
---
What Could Be Better
The only challenge was sliding the trap closed on uneven ground. A few of the cooler bugs managed to escape before we could catch them — but that’s part of the fun (and a good reason to go out and try again!).

Our Verdict
This bug viewer was a hit with everyone. It kept the kids engaged for ages, got them looking under logs and leaves, and even tempted the grown-ups to have a go.
> CAMPKiN & MOO Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 9/10
Perfect for: Nature walks, forest school, camping trips, and rainy-day puddle-jumping adventures.
We’d definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to encourage kids (or themselves!) to slow down, look closer, and discover the amazing mini world around them.
